HYK in WA - Days 3 & 4, plus a visit to Freo

Sunday Market at Margaret River - much smaller than when I last visited about fifteen years ago.

Casual shopper

Serious shopper - looking for stuff for new grandchild, expected next April!

Sunday's a bad day for touring in WA, all the little towns are closed - except for this one, Balingup, where we found a little cafe run by a French lady with Frenchie type snacks.

... the little Frenchie effigy.

We went to town of Manjimup, but again everything was closed. Went for a walk in a little forest trail to see the tall trees, as this is timber country.

Thus ended Day 3. Day 4 was just a drive home, but we visited Gracetown, where a terrible tragedy occured in 1996.

Back home, on another day, we went to Fremantle. These little guitars were on sale at Fremantle Market.

And, of course, we had the obligatory fish 'n chips at Cicerello's.

This isn't the end of HYK's adventures in WA - he went on north to Kalbarri for another few days. Though Cheryl went with him and family, I didn't as I was down with a bad cough.

Maybe HYK will be my next guest blogger and write an account of this part of his trip. How about it HYK?

HYK in WA - Day 2

The day began with a trip to Prevally Beach near the mouth of the Margaret River.

Then, a 300 step descent into the Lake (or Jewel, I forget) Cave.

We had a celebratory birthday lunch at the Berry Farm.

And this flower reminded HKY of some Desperate Housewives.

My favourite part of the Southwest, The Boranup Forest. Ashes here when I die.

Final stop of the day - Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse

HYK in WA

We made a trip to Margaret River.

Had morning coffee in Bunbury.

Then, a stop at the Tuart Forest to admire the arum lilies in bloom. I didn't realise at the time that they are considered a noxious weed!

and then all of us eating it at the Busselton Jetty.

The Vet has arrived at Margaret River.

Immediately the women went shopping!

Dessert and wine after dinner in our hotel unit.

Then, plans were set for the following day's outing.

More to come!
