This photo, at the birth of Ainslie, was taken by one of the nurses present. I thought it was a great pic, showing an intimate moment in the life of the new family. However, there was too much of what photographers would call "distracting elements" (ie garbage) in the pic.
So this morning I tried to improve the pic.
Firstly, some tight cropping to get rid of as much unnecessary detail as possible. There was still too much garbage in the background - so I created a black background. Too easy on the computer, but would have been hell in the darkroom!
I also made it a bit darker and the colours more saturated. I quite like the result!
I can see that you are putting your digital photographic expertise on exhibit. I can also smell the scent of charcoal fire in the air and my salivary glands responding to the sight of well-barbequed satay. Is it chicken meat or Australian beef?
Wah, a real artistic garbage disposal grand dad at work!
