In 1986 ...

... one of my sons gave me chickenpox.

And the doctor gave me 2 weeks off work.

Being relatively young and energetic then, I used the unexpected free time to paint the house.

Of course, all the exertion on top of the infection made me thoroughly sick and I then got another week off work!

One of the first things my father did on retirement was to paint his house.

Naturally, Cheryl thought I'd follow in his footsteps, as the house by then was needing another coat of paint.

A few weeks ago, seven years after I retired, she tired of waiting for me and called in the professional painters.

We've also been enjoying visits from these beautiful creatures - the red tailed black cockatoo - which are not often seen in the surburbs.

They come to eat the berries on one of our trees and make a mess on our neighbour's driveway in doing so.

This tail indicates a female of the species, as shown in this webpage.
