Our 'avalook time

The iPhone shuffle began last week when Son No 2 got himself the iPhone 6.

Grandma C then inherited his iPhone 5.

And I inherited her iPhone 4s.  Talk about the trickle down effect!

When providing the necessary technical support to put into effect Grandma C's new phone, I discovered these photos she had on her older one, showing an aspect of my life with dearly departed Flem.

The story behind these shots is that, in addition to his twice daily walks, Fleming would on most days, come to me mid-morning and mid-afternoon and request that I take him out to the grass verge in the front of the house.

There he would sit and watch the world go by for about 15-20 minutes each time.  I call these our 'avalook time.

Occasionally, the neighbourhood cat would pass by and Flem would take off like a rocket in pursuit.  He never did catch it.

I would drag out my old computer chair and sit with him.

On the particular day these pics were taken, Flem even took out one of his soft toys to keep him company.

  1. Looks like he loved sun tanning too.

  2. Yes, especially in winter, when he would lie for a long time in the sun.

  3. Just being curious. Son #2 passes his phone to Grandma C who passes her phone to you. Whom do you pass your original phone to? Or are you the sink for all phones in the family?

    1. My phone was a 20 year old, $30 one with not even a camera. I doubt anybody now would want it. BTW, I would rather be called a black hole for family phones, rather than a "sink"!

    2. No information is supposed to be emitted from black holes. Hope yours is not one of those ... ha ha.

  4. Memories are made of these. Nice pics. Btw, any iPhone 3 to hand down - I would gladly inherit that. I am the only one in the family who doesn't have a sartphone. :D

    1. Sadly, no. As per my reply above, my old phone is one nobody would want!

    2. Don't throw away your ancient cellphone yet. It will be a rarity when you reach 100. It may be worth something! :)

    3. My local library has safe disposal boxes, different ones for batteries, printer ink cartridges, and mobile phones. My grandson loves putting things in them and my old phone is going to give him some pleasure.
