This was reported in The West Australian today. On radio and TV, it was reported that a bull shark attacked a pelican near the Riverton Bridge, which is very close to our home. This is surprising because the Riverton Bridge is at least 17-20 km from the mouth of the river at Fremantle, and also, the water is mostly only knee deep in parts.
The following satellite photo from Google Earth shows the distance from the river mouth to our home (yellow marker).

The following is a close up showing the bridge in relation to our home. The bridge in question is the lower one in the left hand corner. A close up of our home can be seen in this old post I made back in 2005.
A close up of the bridge: you can see the traffic on it. Here's a photo of the bridge, which I took some years ago. Of course, Flem and I went there this morning hoping to see some action. We saw flamingoes but no shark!
Very good picture sequencing of your "Shark Attack" presentation. Although the episode occurred 17-20 km upstream, the river width looks as wide as the Singapore River near the Esplanade! So I'm not too surprised that that shark decided to do some exploration and was rewarded with some meat.
Initially, I thought that you were featuring the shark that swallowed the oyster/abalone diver (was it near Sydney?) who managed to chisel himself out by getting the shark to vomit him out as he did not taste as delicate as a black seal. This was reported here some days ago.
I wonder what is the next big shark story that is coming out from Australia. Here, we only know about enjoying our Shark-fins soup.
