Antique Digital Camera


In 1998 I got my first digital camera. The photo above shows the DC290, but I actually bought the DC260, ordering from Gope's Photo Store in Tanglin Shopping Centre and good friend HYK couriered it to Perth on one of his trips here.


I remember him telling me he studied the operating manual on the plane in case customs queried his ownership of the camera.


The DC260 had 1.6 megapixels and cost a whopping $1600 - for which nowadays you can get an SLR like the Canon 60D. In those days, of course, SLRs cost well over $10,000!


The DC260 died after a few months and Kodak compensated me with its successor, the camera above, the DC290. This one had 2.2 megapixels.
