The Other Eye

The new year started off in a very busy way for us, with events conspiring to keep me off the world wide web for quite a few days.

One of the things we did was to make an unforeseen and quick trip to Singapore to visit a couple of gravely ill relatives.

Apologies to my healthy friends for not contacting them, as we did not stay long, having to return to Perth in time for my second cataract operation.
Happy to be on-line again!
About the only thing we managed to do in Singapore was to spend a very enjoyable few hours at the National Gallery.   We'll have to visit there again, as our time was way too short.
More on the Gallery in a future post.

  1. Yes the National Gallery is worth a good visit, but so is the Istana Gallery, which is conveniently small enough for a stopover visit!

  3. I think SG has to depend on foreigners to sustain a museum and gallery-going culture, which is of low priority on SGeans' bucket list of "die-die" activities, the main ones (in decreasing order of priority) being making a living, making more money, eating, going to JB to save money on shopping, etc and probably lastly, going to museums and galleries. Correct me if I am wrong, fellow SGeans.

    1. I did see quite a few people I thought were Singaporeans, Prof, and a host of schoolchildren. Perhaps the younger generation generations might grow up appreciating the gallery even more.

  4. Hello Arthur. It's great to see you back. Hurrah...What a happy smile. I like the picture of Grandma enjoying the paintings. I'm looking forward to seeing your future posts on the National Gallery. When I was in Singapore I did not visit it. What a pity... Have a great week ahead :)

    1. Thanks, Reader's Tales. Yes the National Gallery is certainly worth a visit or two. It's housed in the old Supreme Court building and City Hall, and the architecture alone is amazing.

  5. Arthur, Thanks for keeping us posted on your movements. Yes you seem to be travelling on the fast lane but with time to keep up with relatives and appreciate culture and the Arts. Btw, have you got your copy of "My Grandfather's Class" - RI Yearbook 1965?
I am sure the pictures and your photos will bring back many fond memories for you.
