As most of you may already know, Grandma C's retirement hobby is cake decorating, and she makes these cakes for all family occasions.
So I turned 69, and she made this great gravity defying cake.
What a project! It wasn't easy getting the noodles and chopsticks to stay up, and I had many stressful moments watching her!
Awesome work of culinary art. Have I missed something? Ozzie cakes look like Chinese kway teow. Wonder what Ozzie Chinese kway teow look like? :))
ReplyDeleteOzzie Chinese kway teow? I once went to a Chinese restaurant and ordered char kway teow. It came, but instead of kway teow, the chef had used fettucine. That might answer your question?!?!!
DeleteOh my!!! Goodness gracious!!! That is absolutely stunning - will put all the bakeries everywhere to shame. Gosh!!! How did she do that? *standing ovation*
ReplyDeletehaha, there are hidden supports, and also there is the use of icing "stiffeners" (edible). Still it was very tense making it, wondering whether it can work or not!
DeleteWow! How awesome. Very impressive cake, looks real.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rose. Grandma will be pleased when I tell her what you said.
DeleteBesides her skills, Arthur your "cameramanship" is amazing. Your pictures are stunningly clear and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Luke. As for the "cameramanship", I only press the button, lah.
DeleteMy gosh! That's amazing! Now I know where to go & who to learn from!
ReplyDeletehaha, I'll tell Grandma C she can start classes!!
DeleteOh my God ; ) Grandma is a real artist. I've never seen such a cake. I look forward to seeing more of her fabulous cake designs ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Reader's Tales. The cake was inspired by a sign we saw in Tokyo - see the little movie clip here: http://i82muchblog.blogspot.com.au/2014/06/tokyo-walkabout.html
DeleteBoth of you have many hidden talents n the difference with others is that you both acted with passion to realize these talents . My respect and appreciation. Well done!
